Sara L Dilliplane

Shamokin – Sara L. (Startzel) Dilliplane, 82, of 170 E Dewart Street, passed away peacefully on Saturday August 21, 2021 at Mount Carmel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, where she resided for the last two months.

Due to illness, Sara left school at a young age, but in 1991 she went back and earned her GED.

Born on September 6, 1938 at the Shamokin Hospital, she was the daughter of the late Roy A. and Sarah C. (Crone) Dilliplane. On December 12, 1958 she married the late Richard H. Startzel formerly of Shamokin. They divorced in July 1977.

She worked at Arrow and the old Shroyer’s clothing factories (and many others in the area) where she was a seamstress. She also worked for the Green Hand program where she cleaned for the Shamokin Police Department.

Sara was beyond a very strong and caring mother who placed her children first in her life. She would give you her last dollar or the shirt off her back if she thought she could help anyone. She was an active member of the Jehovah’s Witness’s congregation since 1956 as she devoted her life to God, Jehovah.

Sara is survived by two daughters, Cindy Donlin and her companion, Joel Raatz of Fountain Valley, CA, and Susan Angelo of Shamokin; two sons, Richard W. Startzel and his wife, Lisa of Kreamer, and Brian Startzel and his wife, Michelle of Gowen City; six grandchildren, Alex Startzel, Samantha Startzel, Sydney Startzel, Phillip Startzel, Steven Angelo, and Stacia Angelo; and give great grandchildren.

Sara L. (Startzel) Dilliplane, 82, of 170 E Dewart Street, Shamokin – Memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are being cared for by Farrow-C.J.
