Obituary

Shamokin – Ronald Harrison Venn, 88, of 987 Hollow Road, Irish Valley, passed away Tuesday, June 21,2022, at his residence, surrounded by his family.

Born in Danville on May 8, 1934, he was the son of the late Harrison Wagner and Margaret Viola (Clouser) Venn. He graduated from Shamokin Area High School in 1952.

On April 18, 1959, in Munich, Germany, he married Ilse Selma Adam, who survives.

Ronald was a supervisor for Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, where he retired after 27 years of service. Ronald maintained a working farm, which he started at the age of 21. At that time was a dairy farmer, raised beef cattle and pigs, and produced all the crops necessary to support the animals and farmer's market.

After his retirement, he created and maintained a successful business, Weigh Scales Mini Storage, Inc.

He served in the US Army for three years, trained on Helicopter maintenance. He then joined the Army Reserves and then the National Guard for a number of years. Ronald was a member of the Home Association of CPL Anthony Chesney Post #231, American Legion, Kulpmont, and Northern Masonic Scottish Rite, Williamsport. Throughout his life, he attended Ash Grove United Methodist Church, Paxinos and was a member of Stonington Baptist Church, Stonington.

Ron enjoyed traveling throughout the United States as he was a devoted Patriot and loved his USA. He also enjoyed solving cryptoquotes, crossword puzzles, reading the newspaper comics, playing Poker on the internet and Black Jack in the Casino. He enjoyed a good steak and home cooked meals from his wife, Ilse, the most.

Ron was a good man but a private person, always working very hard to provide a secure life for his wife and daughters. He was very proud of his daughters and grandchildren, supporting them with continued education and their love of Equine competition.

His family could always count on him for help whatever the need. We will miss him immensely.
