Helen Long Obituary

ELYSBURG – Helen A. Long, 84, of 200 E Center Street, Elysburg, passed away Thursday, April 15, 2021 at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.

Born in Shamokin on May 11, 1936 she was the daughter of the late Martin and Mary (Wiggins) Nolan. She went to Coal Township Schools.

In 1953 she married Robert Wetzel who preceded her in death. In 1990 she married Darvin Long who preceded her in death. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Catawissa.

Helen is survived by a daughter, Mary Kay Deroba and her husband, Ronald of Elysburg; two grandsons, Michael Shoffler and his wife, Stephanie of Elysburg, and Kenneth Wetzel of CA; four granddaughters, Michelle Seger and her husband, Brad of Elysburg, Megan Wagner of Shamokin, Patty Kratzer and her husband, and Janet Latshaw and her husband; five great grandsons, Logan Seger, Gavin Balchunas, Matthew Wagner, Jonathan Kratzer, and Shane Latshaw; seven great granddaughters, Marley Seger, Ryah Seger, Chloye Balchunas, Morgen Wetzel, Kimberly Kratzer, Sheena Latshaw, and Maddison Latshaw; two brothers, Robert Nolan and his wife, Donna of Elysburg, and Martin Nolan and his wife, Lola of TN; a sister, Dolores Rubendall and her husband, Robert of Schwenksville; a sister-in-law, Anna Mae Nolan; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her husbands and parents, Helen was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Wetzel; a grandson, Robert Wetzel; and three brothers, Paul Nolan and his wife, Dorothy, John “Jack” Nolan and his wife, Margaret, and Glenn Nolan.

 

FUNERAL NOTICE

Helen A. Long, 84, of 200 E Center Street, Elysburg – Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, April 28, 2021 with Pastor Joshua Notestein, officiating at Farrow-C.J. Lucas Funeral and Cremation Service, 240 W Chestnut Street, Shamokin, Lori Ann Campbell, Supervisor. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:00 am – 11:00 am. Burial will follow the service at Northumberland Memorial Park, Sunbury. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Mommy and Me Rescue, 610 E 5th St, Mt Carmel, PA 17851.
