MOUNT CARMEL – Dolores M. Schlegel, 93, passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at Mount Carmel Nursing Home.
Born in Shamokin on March 16, 1929, she was the daughter of Magdaline Korzineski. She attended Shamokin Area Schools.
On May 5, 1949 in Shamokin, she married David D. Schlegel, who preceded her in death. She was a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church.
Dolores is survived by a daughter, Sheryl Schlegel of Coal Township; a step-son, Gerald Schlegel of IN; a step daughter-in-law, Mildred Schlegel; four grandsons, Christopher Amato and his wife, Kay Marie, Bryan Amato, Roland “Butch” Schlegel and his wife, Susan, and Edward Schlegel; three granddaughters, Jennifer Weaver, Donna Gerber and her husband, Jeffrey, and Rose Ann Bowers and her husband, Ed; great grandsons, Logan Hixon, Korey Schlegel, Aiden Schlgel, Owen Amato Travis Weaver and his wife, Shelby, Adam Weaver and his wife, Sarah, and Josh Bowers; Great Granddaughters, Kate Amato, Heather Straight and her husband, Kevin, Brena Schlegel, Melisa Glover and her husband Nick, Nichole Menton and her husband James, Samantha Fiddler and her husband, Joel, Trista Quintero and her husband, Eric and Gwen Lloyd and her husband, Carlton; many great great grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Leslie Schlegel and his wife, Jan; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her Husband, Mother, and Father, Dolores was preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Katie Schlegel; a daughter, Kathleen Amato and her husband, Michael; a step-son, Robert Schlegel; a sister, Lorraine Germuth and her husband, Joe; and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Dolores M. Schlegel, 93, of Mount Carmel Nursing Home – Funeral services will be held Friday, April 1, 2022 at 11:00 am with Pastor Samuel Bellavia, officiating at Farrow-C.J. Lucas Funeral and Cremation Service, 240 W Chestnut Street, Shamokin, Lori Ann Campbell, Supervisor. Viewing will be held prior to the service from 9:00 am – 11:00 am.
