Barry Schleig Obituary

COAL TOWNSHIP – Barry L. Schleig, 79, of 101 N Ash Street, Apt 206, passed away Monday, August 29, 2022 at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.

Born in Sunbury on April 20, 1943 he was the son of the late Hilda M. Schleig. He graduated from Shamokin Area High School. He served in the United States Army.

On June 23, 1995 he married, Elgie Kosvitch, who survives. He worked as a long-haul truck driver for several trucking companies. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. He was a life member of The Rescue Fire Company, LM American Legion of Kulpmont, St. Francis Home Association, Independence Fire Company, Disabled American Veterans, and the Masons 255.

Barry enjoyed gardening, canning, and cooking. One of his favorite past-times was sharing and learning about trucks and cars, as he enjoyed classic cars and many different models. Barry looked forward to many trips visiting his family and friends.

In addition to his wife, Barry is survived by three daughters, Sheila Strausser of Shamokin, Crystal Lumm and her husband, Kirk of TN, and Connie Brumfield and her husband, Brian of South Williamsport; a son, Thomas William Wells Jr., and his wife, Kelly of KY; two granddaughters, Kristina Lumm, and Claire Lumm; four grandsons, Jakob Kenninitz, Michael Schleig, Tucker Wells, and Logan Wells; a sister-in-law, Lillian Mirarchi of Coal Township; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his mother, Barry was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Andrew and Elgie (Novitsky) Kosvitch; a daughter, Sheri Schleig; and a brother-in-law, Andrew Kosvitch.

 

FUNERAL NOTICE

Barry L. Schleig, 709, of 101 N Ash Street, Apt 206, Coal Township – Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at 11:00 am at Farrow-C.J. Lucas Funeral and Cremation Service, 240 W Chestnut Street, Shamokin, Lori Ann Campbell, Supervisor, with Pastor Ferd Madara, officiating. Viewing will be held from 10:00 am until the time of service. Burial will be held following the service at Northumberland Memorial Park, Sunbury.
