Alfred Shaffer Obituary

Coal Township – Alfred Shaffer, 87, of 1552 Trevorton Road, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 16, 2021 in his home surrounded by his loving wife and family.

Born in Coal Township on September 16, 1933 to the late Joseph and Mae Viola (Snyder) Shaffer. He attended Coal Township Schools and graduated from Coal Township High School in 1951 and entered the U. S. Air Force the day after graduation. He served for 4 years.

After leaving the United States Air Force he married the love of his life, Anna Mae (Young) on December 9, 1956by Reverend Harper Snarely in Brethern Church. They were by each other’s side for 64 years.

He was a mine worker until he got a job at Rohm and Haas Chemical Co. in Philadelphia in 1961. He lived in Philadelphia with his wife for 46 years then in 2007 moved back to Coal Township.

In addition to his wife, Alfred is survived by two sons, Alfred K. Shaffer and his wife, Elizabeth of NJ, and Curtis L. Shafer and his wife, Barbara of Coal Township; two brothers-in-law, Frank Young, and George Young; three sisters-in-law, Deloris Stank, Laura Manley, and Linda James; Alfred was a loving pap to two grandsons, Alfred Shaffer and  his wife, Brittany, and Joseph Shaffer; two granddaughters, Kristina Shaffer, and Kearston Shaffer; a great grandson, Derek Shaffer; and a great granddaughter, Piper Shaffer. In addition to his parents, Alfred was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Shaffer; Father and Mother-in-law, Frank and Vera Young; two brothers, Joseph Shaffer and Harold Shaffer and his wife, Joan; five sisters, Mae Shaffer, June Latsha and her husband, Walter, Betty Kublic and her husband, Rudy, Peggy Dell, and Joanne Shaffer; and four Brothers-in-law, Charles Young, John Young, Albert Stank, and Donald Manley.

 

FUNERAL NOTICE
