William J. Zimmerman, Sr.

Shamokin – William J. Zimmerman Sr., 68, of 104 N. 8th St., passed away Monday, December 1, 2025 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

He was born in Harrisburg on April 11, 1957, to the late Robert and Maryanne (Carnes) Zimmerman.

He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1979 to 1982, where he worked as a cook. He went on to work at a textile mill in Harrisburg.

William is survived by an ex-wife and long-time companion, Susan McGrady; a son, William Zimmerman Jr. and his wife, Holly of Shamokin; two daughters, Melissa Wright and her husband Ronald of Manheim and Cristina Zimmerman and her girlfriends, Taylor Rose and Lauren Oliver of Harrisburg; five grandsons, Austin Zimmerman, John Zimmerman, Andrew Zimmerman, Brennen Zimmerman, and Gabriel Zimmerman; seven granddaughters, Ashley Atkinson and her husband Jordan, Brianna Zimmerman, Amanda Stevenson, Cheyenne Eller and her husband Devin, Hayley Pope, Hannah Pope, and Brooklyn Zimmerman; two great-grandsons, Wyatt Lyter and Clarence Stevenson; five great-granddaughters, Alyssa Lyter, Ivy Lyter, Lilly, Isabella, and Trinity; three brothers, Richard Zimmerman, Michael Zimmerman, and Robert Zimmerman; and two sisters, Judy Hurlock and her husband David and Mary Zimmerman. In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by a grandson, William Zimmerman III; and a sister-in-law, Lori Zimmerman.
