Stephania (Sarnowski) Losiewicz

d. February 27, 2024

Coal Township

Coal Township – When some we love becomes a memory, that memory becomes a treasure. The Lord called Stephania Losiewicz, 95, to rest in peace on February 27, 2024 at the home of her daughter.

Stephania was born at home in Coal Township, the daughter of Ignatius and Sophia (Rutkowski) Sarnowski.

She was united in marriage to Charles (L to Z) Losiewicz in St. Stanislaus Church on August 14, 1948. She was a graduate of Coal Township High School. She was a member of the former St. Stephen Church now Our Lady of Hope.

After her marriage, she and her husband opened a neighborhood grocery store on Pulaski Avenue. Later, they made their home on Lynn Street where she became a homemaker and raised their two children.

After the death of her husband, she became very active in various organizations. She held the office of president or treasure in the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Auxiliary, Elks Auxiliary, Sunshine Club, Council of Catholic Women, and the Senior Action Center. She gave freely of her time and didn’t know how to say no.

She enjoyed sewing, crossword puzzles, and reading. She most enjoyed looking after her grandchildren and they adored her. If you told her something in confidence you can bet she took it with her.

Stephania is survived by her daughter Stephanie Fessler, five grandchildren, Neil Fessler and his wife, Ashley of NC, Nadine Chaundy and her husband, Rich of Falls, Charles Losiewicz of TX, Jason Losiewicz of TX, and Jamie Losiewicz of TX; eleven great grandchildren; and six great great grandchildren.  In addition to her parents and husband, Stephania was preceded in death by her son, Michael Losiewicz; a son-in-law, William Fessler; and her siblings, Helen Day, Marie Heck, Wanda Gribbon, and I. John Sarnowski.
