Matthew T. Wetzel

SHAMOKIN – Matthew T. Wetzel, 45, of 226 W Walnut Street, Apt 2, passed away Friday, February 20, 2026 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born in Sunbury on August 2, 1980 to Bruce Wetzel and Eileen (Paul) Bray. He graduated from Tri Valley High School in 2000. He worked as a Truck Driver for Penn Dot. He enjoyed baseball and played on the team in high school.

He was a member of the Independence Fire Company, and the Mahantongo Fire Company.

Matthew was an avid hunter, enjoying many memorable moments in the woods with his father. He loved to go on vacation to the beach with his mother. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his children.

In addition to his parents, Matthew was survived by a son, Jacob Wetzel; a daughter, Taylor Ann Wetzel; a sister, Lisa Maree Rickert and her husband, Brad of Lavelle; a nephew, Jared Wetzel; a great niece, Finley Wetzel; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Matthew was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Nelson and Kathryn (Heim) Wetzel; and maternal grandparents, Robert and Elizabeth Jane (Weimer) Paul.

Matthew T. Wetzel, 45, of Shamokin – Memorial Service will be held Saturday, March 7, 2026 at 11:00 am, with Chaplain Wayne Muthler officiating, at Farrow-Campbell Funeral & Cremation Service, 240 W Chestnut Street, Shamokin, Lori Ann Campbell, Supervisor.
