Matthew "Matt" W. Renn

Coal Township – Matthew “Matt” W. Renn, 44, of Coal Township, passed away Sunday, September 20, 2026 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Danville on December 23, 1981 he was the son of Wayne and Linda (Tanner) Renn, who survive. He graduated in 2000 from Line Mountain High School, and went on to obtain an Associates Degree from McCann School of Business. He worked for GDK Development as the Above Restaurant Leader at Burger King.

On October 22, 2005 in Shamokin he married Kristy R. Welsh, who survives. Growing up he attended St. Elias Evangelical and Reformed Church, Sunbury. He was a member of Keystone Fish & Game, Irish Valley.

Matt enjoyed hunting with his dad, Wayne and his son, Braxton. He enjoyed getting up on stage with his daughter, Baylee every December doing the father and daughter dance at her studio. He enjoyed watching sports and giving life talks with his son, Gaven.

In addition to his wife and parents, Matt is survived by two sons, Gaven Renn, and Braxton Renn; a daughter, Baylee Renn; his family pets, Remington, and Walker; a brother, Timothy Renn and his fiancé, Tera of Lancaster; a sister, Shannon Klinger and her husband, Mike of Lewisburg; paternal grandmother, Grace (Trometter) Renn; father-in-law, Gene Welsh, Jr., and his wife, Suzi of FL; and a brother-in-law. Gene Welsh III and his wife, Lacey of Coal Township; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Matthew was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Leonard Renn; maternal grandparents, Harry and Mary (Ackley) Tanner; and mother-in-law Denise (Gilbert) Welsh.

Matthew “Matt” W. Renn, 44, of Coal Township – Funeral Services will be held Thursday, September 24, 2026 at 11:00 am with Pastor Clair Shaffer, officiating at Farrow-Campbell Funeral & Cremation Service, 240 W Chestnut Street, Shamokin, PA, Lori Ann Campbell, Supervisor. Viewing will be held prior to the service from 9:00 am – 11:00 am. Burial will be held following the service at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Coal Township.
