Margaret Long

Shamokin- Margaret Long, 90, of Dewart Street, passed away November 11, 2025, at Mount Carmel Nursing Home. It was a glorious day for Margaret as she beheld her Savior face to face and was reunited with her husband Paul and her daughters, Margaret and Sherran who were tragically taken from her in 1973.

Born in Shamokin on May 7, 1935, she was the daughter of the late George and Ruth (Coaker) Bowers. On March 28, 1953, in Shamokin, she married her sweetheart, Paul Melvin Long, who preceded her in death on December 7, 2024.

She was a member of the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church.

Margaret was a wonderful wife and mother. She loved her husband faithfully and her daughters dearly. She was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ, who desired all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

For the last several years Margaret was graciously cared for by the staff at the Mount Carmel Senior Living Community. Thank you to all the staff, especially those who took extra time to sit with Margaret, after Paul went home to be with Jesus.

In addition to her husband, Margaret was preceded in death by her two daughters, Margaret Long, and Sherran Long. After their horrific and traumatic deaths in 1973, Margaret and Paul were sustained by their faith in Jesus Christ and the hope of the resurrection yet to come. Their daughters loved Jesus. Margaret and Paul held fast to Jesus’ words when he said, “I am the resurrection and the life, he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.”

On Monday, Margaret beheld Jesus face to face and was reunited with her loving husband and precious daughters. Even so, come Lord Jesus!

Margert Long, 90, of Shamokin – Graveside service and burial will be held Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at 11:00 am, with Pastor Daniel Renno officiating, at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Coal Township, PA. Viewing will be held prior to the service from 10:00 am – 10:30 am at Farrow-Campbell Funeral & Cremation Service, Inc., 240 W Chestnut Street, Shamokin, Lori Ann Campbell, Supervisor.
