Louise Ellen Maurer, 89, of Overlook, went home to her Savior Wednesday afternoon, December 8, 2021.
She left behind her beloved husband of 68 years, Earl Maurer.
Born October 31, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Torrence and Mae (Kline) Spotts. Louise grew up in Uniontown, graduating from Coal Township High School in 1950, eventually becoming the high school secretary. She also spent many years working at a floral shop and greenhouse, and was a Ralpho Township poll worker. She filled her life with joy by serving others. She made meals for many, served with Child Evangelism Fellowship Good News Clubs, and taught Bible Clubs well into her 70s. Her home was always open to friends. Teens gathered at her home many Sunday evenings after church to enjoy hamburgers and snacks. She made sure to attend each of her seven grandkids’ many activities. She loved others and was deeply loved by her family. Though she will be missed, there is great comfort in knowing she is in heaven with her Savior, Jesus, who she put her faith in as a young girl.
In addition to her husband, Louise is survived by two daughters, Brenda Tarr and her husband, Daniel of Madison Township, and Sharon Manning and her husband, Robert of Paxinos; five grandsons, Robert Manning Jr and his wife, Jeanette, Christopher Manning and his wife, Amanda, Bradley Tarr and his wife, Elizabeth, Matthew Tarr and his wife, Melody, and Daniel Tarr and his wife, Abigail; two granddaughters, Shelly Messner and her husband, John, and Jennifer Tarr; eight great grandsons, Jonathan Tarr, Jackson Messner, Timothy Tarr, Damien Messner, Christopher Tarr, Robert Manning III, Nicholas Tarr, and Josiah Manning; four great granddaughters, Alisha Manning, Jodi Messner, Ruth Manning, and Jenna Messner; a brother, Vaughn “Buddy” Spotts; three sisters-in-laws, Valeria “Mickey” Spotts, Ruth Wynn, and Arlene Maurer; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, Louise was preceded in death by her father and mother-in-law, Darwin and Florence (Specht) Maurer; four brothers-in-law, Raymond Maurer and his wife, Margaret, Ralph Maurer, James Maurer and his wife, Kay, and Richard Wynn; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Raker and her husband, William.
The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers who attended her in her final years, and the hospice nurses who eased her final days.
