Lee Edwin Schankweiler

Coal Township - Lee Edwin Schankweiler, 80, of Lincoln Towers, passed away peacefully, Sunday, October 18, 2026 at Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital, Coal Township.

Born in Baltimore, Maryland, on June 26, 1946, to the late Thomas Walter and Frances Elizabeth (North) Schankweiler. He was a 1963 graduate of Shamokin Area High School. He served in the United States Air Force.

He attended the Primitive Methodist Church, on seventh street in Shamokin.

Every year Lee worked as a carnival operator at the Bloomsburg Fair. He had a special place in his heart for the Salvation Army, and the Pocono Mountain Bible Conference Camp. Lee is survived by his brother, Tom Schankweiler of NC; two sisters, Kathy Vonpelt of NC, and Judy Nicewonger of FL. He was preceded in death by his parents.
