Wilkes-Barre – Joseph Thomas Darcy, 31, of 34 South Main Street, passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at his residence.

Born in Sunbury on May 23, 1991, he was the son of Joseph Darcy and Debra (Smith) Brill.  Joseph graduated in 2009 from Shamokin Area High School and later attended McCann Business School, where he majored in Information Technology and Bloomsburg University.  He worked at the Adidas Factory, Wilkes-Barre, where he worked as a lead person.  Joseph also worked as a roofer.

Joseph was a member of the Pennsylvania National Guard.  He was also working on getting his CDL License so that he could drive truck.

He was of the Christian faith and was a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, Shamokin.

Joseph loved working out and going to the gym. He enjoyed tinkering with electronics, fixing computers, laptops and cell phones. He was creative and worked on website design.  He enjoyed vehicles, as he liked driving and working on them.  He had many hobbies; fishing, wrestling, baseball, midget football, scouts, chess club, and reading the bible, as well as many other spiritual books.  Joseph also had a great love for animals and helping the homeless.  During high school he was active in the band and soccer.  Joseph had a love for the holidays and especially spending time with his family.  He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed making those around him laugh.

In addition to his parents, Joseph is survived by three sisters, Nicole Kehres and her husband Brandon of Paxinos, Jamie Smith of Shamokin, and Lauren Kern of Coal Township; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.  He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, William and Helen (Kelly) Smith and his paternal grandparents, Thomas and May (Cole) Darcy.

FUNERAL NOTICE

Joseph Thomas Darcy, 31, of 34 South Main Street, Wilkes-Barre – Memorial Service will be held Friday, May 19th at 11:00 AM at the Farrow – C. J. Lucas Funeral and Cremation Service, 240 West Chestnut Street, Shamokin, with Pastor David Spotts officiating.  A visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until the time of service.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Farrow – C.
