Shamokin – John A. Leach, 87, of 705 E. Sunbury Street, passed away Monday, June 9, 2025 at Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital, Coal Township.
Born in Gowen City on October 18, 1937 to the late Alvin and Ada (Ferster) Leach. He attended Shamokin Area Schools. He served in the United States Air Force.
On September 5, 1959 he married Susan Leach, who preceded him in death. He was a member of the First United Methodist, Shamokin. He worked for JD Moody, Paxinos and Kevin Raker Construction, Augustaville.
John was an avid hunter who enjoyed many hunting excursions with his sons. He loved spending time with his grand fur babies who will miss him very much.
John is survived by three sons, John Leach and his wife, Linda of Paxinos, Todd Leach and his wife, Tammy of Wilburton, and Scott Leach and his companion, Linda Dreisbach; of Shamokin; granddaughter, Dr. Lauryn Allen and her husband Matthew of VA; three sisters, Anne Broscious and her husband, Mike, Mary Erdman, and Linda Shipe and her husband, Ron; sister-in-law, Ruth Paul of Mountain View Manor; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his wife and parents, John was preceded in death by his father-in-law, and mother-in-law, William and Ruth (Wolfgang) Knauff; brother, Walter Paul; and two sisters-in-law, Vera Checchi and her husband, James, and Caroline Clements.

John Leach, 87, of Shamokin – Funeral Service will be held Monday, June 16, 2025 at 11:00 am at Farrow-Campbell Funeral & Cremation Service, Inc., 240 W Chestnut Street, Shamokin, PA, Lori Ann Campbell, Supervisor. Viewing will be held prior to the service, from 9:00 am – 11:00 am. Burial will follow the service at Northumberland Memorial Park, Sunbury.
