James (Jim) Matthew Hartman, 54, beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, died peacefully in his sleep on October 13, 2026. He will be remembered for his quick wit, friendly smile, artistic eye, and his love for the movies, trivia, the Beatles, the Phillies, and the Chargers. Jim was smart, kind, funny, and an all-around good soul. We will miss him desperately and loved him deeply.
Born on June 17, 1972 in Ashland to Robert and Mary Ann (Guzevich) Hartman, who survive. He went to Shamokin Area High School where he graduated in 1990 and attended Kutztown University. He played youth sports including little league baseball and pee wee football. Jim also had a deeply creative side in filmmaking and photography. He was the owner of Mad Ones Media and his latest short film, Dirty Little Secret, recently won the Groucho Marx Award for Best Picture at the Shamokin Film Festival. He was passionate about film and continued to hone his craft daily. He worked at Weis Markets in Sunbury as Creative Director, which allowed him to use his talents in creating marketing videos, commercials, and photography for the company. In addition to Shamokin, Jim also lived in Philly, Virginia, and LA during various points in his life. Jim took his knowledge of trivia to the next level and usually won (or came in close second) in Thanksgiving trivia games.
In addition to his parents, Jim is survived by a brother Robert Hartman and his wife, Robbi Hartman; a sister Jane (Hartman) Norberg and her husband, Scott Norberg; two nephews, Thomas Norberg and George Zarick; two nieces, Caroline and Erinn Norberg; and uncles, aunts, cousins, and many, many friends. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Adolph and Eleanor Guzevich; and his paternal grandparents, Ned Hartman and Rita (Hartman) Krebs; and several uncles, aunts, and cousins.
He will be deeply missed by all who were lucky enough to know him.
