Elinor M. Taylor

Pottsville – Elinor M. Taylor, 87, of York Terrace Nursing Home, went home to be with her twin sister,

Ellen and family, on Sunday, May 24, 2026.

Born and raised in Ranshaw on May 28, 1938 she was the daughter of the late William and Dorothy

(Alveretta Frye) Taylor. She graduated from Coal Township High School in 1957. She was a member of St. Johns United Church of Christ where she and her twin sister, Ellen, were part of the famed Bell Ringing Choir.

She worked as a counter waitress at Woolworth for 29 years where she was famous for her hand made

coleslaw, then was a nursing assistant at Mountain View Manor, and retired from the local magistrate’s

office. From her front porch and last home on First St, Shamokin, she enjoyed doing word puzzles and

watching the busy life activities on her street. Due to physical and health impairments she became a resident at The Gardens at York Terrace, Pottsville, where she enjoyed the company of the caring staff and facility activities. Elinor’s favorite treats were chocolate chip cookies, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, and chocolate peanut butter ice cream.

In addition to her parents, Elinor was preceded in death by her twin sister, Ellen Taylor; a sister, Nancy J. Taylor; and a brother, William I. Taylor.

Elinor M. Taylor, 87, of (Shamokin) Pottsville – Funeral Services will be held Friday, May 29, 2026 at 11:00am with the Reverend Dr. Robert S. Stoudt officiating, at Farrow-Campbell Funeral and Cremation Service, 240 W Chestnut Street, Shamokin, PA, Lori Ann Campbell, Supervisor.
