Shamokin – Brenda Lee (Weikel) Schweitzer, 56, passed away Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Ashland on September 22, 1967, Brenda was the daughter of Roland Franklin and Rose Ann (Lute) Weikel. She was a 1985 graduate from Shamokin Area High School.
Brenda married Albert Schweitzer Jr., who preceded her in death. Early in her life she worked at City Shirts and several other manufacturing facilities in various roles. She was also employed at Broad Mountain Nursing Home as a facilities and resident attendant. Most recently, she was a homemaker who lovingly took care of her family. She was a parishioner of Lavelle Church of the Nazarene and she had a deep and abiding faith in her creator.
Brenda had a gentle and kind soul. Her character was such that she did not judge others and, in actuality, loved overly-much. She will be remembered by those who knew her as being a beautiful person who greeted everyone with a charming smile and an offer of conversation over a warm cup of tea. She looked past our foibles and into the beauty of our soul. Many hearts are broken at Brenda’s passing and the world feels much less bright for her absence.
Brenda is survived by a daughter, Kimberly Baransky of Pottsville; a son, Adam Schweitzer of Shamokin; Mother, Rose Ann Varndell of Shamokin; two brothers, Roland Weikel Jr. of Shamokin and Leonard Weikel and his wife, Tammy of KY; a sister, Cheryl Muno of Pitman; and many Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins. In addition to her husband and father, Brenda was preceded in death by a daughter, Jessica Lynn Baransky.
